Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani over safety preparations for his or her billboards amid persistent insecurity in the state.
Odinkalu accused the governments of Tinubu and Sani of failing to commit adequate consideration to protecting residents of Kaduna State.
The human rights lawyer made the remarks in a publish on his X account on Friday.
“If the govt of @officialABAT & @ubasanius spent as much energy over the past 3 & a half yrs protecting the people of Kaduna State as they have spent in the past 3 & a half days to protect the billboards of both men, they’d have saved a lot of money on accomplishing the latter,” he wrote.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, questioned the federal government’s priorities, arguing that the safety given to the billboards contrasted with the insecurity confronted by residents.
“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear,” Atiku wrote.
