Afrobeats singer Magixx has mentioned it’s unlikely for a Nigerian artiste to make a fortune in music with out having a hit tune with international enchantment.
Speaking in an episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast, Magixx defined that to stay financially secure, artistes have to drop hits constantly after their first hit tune.
He revealed that it took him 2-3 months for him to start out incomes from music even after Don Jazzy signed him to Mavin Records.
The singer said that even efficiency charges are decided by the variety of hit songs an artiste has.
“Even while you get signed to an enormous file label as an artist, you first must drop a tune with international enchantment earlier than you begin making serious money. It took 2–3 months after Don Jazzy signed me earlier than I began incomes from music.
“Before the money started coming, I was struggling with bills and family responsibilities. The worst part is that if I ask people for financial assistance, they would say I am signed to a big label, and money shouldn’t be my problem.
“It was troublesome as a result of I needed to preserve the life-style of a famous person with costly designer garments. But finally, the money began coming. One hit tune can earn you N500,000–N700,000 per present, whereas one other hit can take your payment to N1.5 million,” Magixx said.
