The Federal Government, via the National Universities Commission (NUC), has granted a permanent operational licence to a private university in Abuja.
Abdullahi Ribadu, Executive Secretary of the NUC, disclosed this in a press release on Friday.
Ribadu urged the establishment, generally known as Cosmopolitan University, to keep excessive tutorial requirements following its receipt of the permanent operational licence.
“During your probationary period, you were judged, you were monitored, because it’s like you took an exam, actually,” he mentioned.
“A committee went to confirm your processes, your college students, your workers and every little thing. The concept was both to advocate a full licence for you or withdraw the prevailing one as a result of one thing has to occur after three years.
“So, after three years, you either graduate to get the full licence or you don’t. But of course, in some cases, not all of you who were examined passed.”
He added that the establishment was among the many 37 private universities granted licences by the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
