Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC has expressed displeasure over the ban on feminine Muslim college students from sporting Hijab at Nigerian law schools.
The organisation described the event as unhappy and unlucky.
MURIC, in an announcement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola, on Sunday, alleged that feminine Muslim college students in law schools throughout the nation have been, on Saturday, barred from sporting Hijab.
He added that the scholars have been intimidated and harassed, condemning the motion of the Nigerian law schools’ authorities.
Akintola referred to as for the suspension of all examinations at law schools throughout the nation, pending investigation into the matter.
He mentioned, “There was harassment and intimidation of hijab-wearing female Muslim students in some Law School examination halls across the country yesterday, Saturday, 31st November, 2026.
”Hijabites who got here hoping to take a seat for his or her name to bar closing examinations have been disallowed from getting into the examination halls. In some locations, they have been compelled to stay standing exterior for about one hour till they eliminated their hijabs earlier than they have been allowed to enter and begin the examination.
”While this was going on, our office was inundated with telephone calls, text messages and chats. We heard the cries of traumatised candidates, the lamentations of distressed parents, hundreds of kilometres away from the examination centres and the agitation of concerned Muslims around the country.
“MURIC strongly condemns the wanton disruption of the lawful instructional pursuit of harmless Muslim women. It is crude, irrational and sadistic.”
