Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, has mentioned the Federal Government has no plan to introduce a petrol tax amid the excessive value of dwelling confronted by Nigerians.
He disclosed this in a short assertion on his X account on Tuesday.
His clarification comes amid reviews of plans by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to introduce a 5 per cent tax on retail petroleum merchandise within the nation.
However, clarifying the problem, Oyedele mentioned the Federal Government had no plan to introduce a gasoline tax.
“In my interview with ARISE News, I was clear: a fuel tax is not on the table,” he mentioned on X.
DAILY POST reviews that tens of millions of Nigerians pay between N1,370 and N1,429 per litre for petrol.
The introduction of a gasoline tax would imply that Nigerians would have to pay extra for petrol.
