Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has mentioned the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s proposed gasoline subsidy restoration will set Nigeria back by 20 years.
Onanuga mentioned Atiku lacks the data of economics regardless of advocating aggressively for gasoline subsidy restoration.
The presidential aide was reacting to Vice President Kashim Shettima’s remark that Atiku lacks the ability set to govern a contemporary financial system.
Shettima, who was criticising Atiku’s proposed gasoline subsidy restoration, mentioned the previous vice chairman wants to transfer Nigeria backwards for political comfort.
(*20*) Shettima’s remark, Onanuga recalled that Atiku was a sanitary inspector earlier than becoming a member of the Nigerian Customs.
Posting on X, he wrote: “Atiku Abubakar’s only qualification before joining the Nigerian Customs was as a sanitary inspector.
“You surprise what he is aware of about economics, provided that he now advocates a regressive subsidy coverage that may set our nation back by over 20 years.”
